September 2016

September was a busy month for Senior Infants. We settled into our new classroom and we are very happy to be back at school.

We are learning our capital letters, poems and listening to stories. Our favourite was The Town and Country mouse. We know that Ballyea is in the country side and that our nearest town is Ennis. We drew some lovely pictures of Ballyea. We made the Town mouse in art.

We learned all about autumn and made some lovely hedgehogs and Autumn trees.

Check out our pictures.

Fun on the Astro Turf

We have started our swimming lessons in the Ennis Swimming pool and we LOVE it.

It is great fun going on the bus with our friends and we are learning lots in the pool from the instructors.

The weather was really nice last week so we went out onto the Astro Turf and practised our football skills.

We were dribbling the ball to cones, we were passing to our partners and we were controlling the ball with our feet. Check out our action photos below!

Hard at work after a lovely Easter Holiday and lots of eggs!!!

We listened to the story of the Three Pigs . We were learning about houses and all the different types of houses that people can live in. We can name and identify a semi-detatched house, a bungalow, a two story, an apartment, a boat house , a cottage and a palace.

We made the three different houses from our story of The Three Pigs.

In our groups we made straw houses, stick houses and brick houses for art.

We used lollipop sticks, crepe paper and card.IMG_0080

We learned about all different materials like plastic, wood, glass, cloth and metal. We felt lots of different textures in class and we did texture rubbings with crayons inside and outside the classroom. It was great fun.

Daffodil walk….Looking for signs of Spring

We went on a nature walk looking for signs of Spring. It was a lovely day and the sun was shining. We  saw lots and lots of lovely daffodils growing. We saw buds on the trees and we saw nests high up in some trees. We know that this is the season that the birds are very busy. They build their nests to lay eggs. Soon the baby birds will hatch.

Proclamation Day 15th March 2016

We had a great ‘Proclamation Day’. We watched Ms. Mc Mahon’s 1916 play in the hall. It was excellent. We sang songs, listened to Molly reading the Proclamation and listened to music. Then we went outside and watched the Irish flag being raised. It was a very special day. We waved our own small flags and we looked super in our green outfits.IMG_0122IMG_0124IMG_0125IMG_0127IMG_0133IMG_0134IMG_0140IMG_0149IMG_0152
